Homeostasis
After reading the definition, who wouldn’t want homeostasis!? But how can it reached? Because we are being constantly influenced by our surroundings and affected by our ever changing environments, our reactions can make homeostasis difficult.
“Equilibrium maintained by self-regulating processes”
Breathing and heartbeat are self-regulating processes. They tend however, to be very reactive to external influences, which when cause stress, makes them quickly become unregulated and out of equilibrium. When the external stress is removed and or the reaction is over, it then takes time for the breathing and heartbeat to re-self-regulate and re-balance back to “equilibrium”. The amount of time this takes depends on the persons ability to physically, mentally and emotionally re-stabilise themselves so we can get back closer to homeostasis.
Self-Synchronisation Technique
Using Biofeeback equipment, there has been revealed a new insight into how homeostasis can be achieved and maintained at will. It has been appropriately named the Self-Synchronisation Technique because it involves synchronising the breathing with the heartbeat. When the breathing and the heartbeat are correctly synchronised (to a specific sequence!) something truly amazing can be witnessed and experienced.
Erratic heartbeat and breathing rhythms become balanced with each other and both become perfectly rhythmic.
